Actually, it was significantly easier than I anticipated. In fact, we need to play only 3 conquests to unlock Darlan: 1. Any of 1* Axis states. Hungary or Finland should be just fine. The main task is to make allies out of all neutral countries. 2. Empire of Japan. It is the easiest (well, I haven't played others, truth be told ) 3* state. The main objective is to conquer all cities. It looks terrifying to fight with Germans, but it is rather a psychological fear than factual. jonblend is right when you unlock Rockets/Strategic bombings no-one is of a threat anymore. 2. Any 2* country. Romania is very close to Hungary, so the same "Rascal" strategy is possible. The aim is just to grab what carelessly left by others and to complete it under 60 turns. Intended or not, challenge conquest was a great addition to the game. Everyone with decent progress can win with a proper strategy and if we want the challenge, then we can go toe-to-toe with Germany.

I just made a thread on it, but ‘43 challenge, if ET doesn’t hold back on the USSR/Germany, should be a blast. Germany *should* be almost unstoppable unless you have a quite powerful team to counterattack.

stoic According to your path, when will you get Guderian? After Rommel? And given we can access Darlan early, can we get rid of Tito?

stoic According to your path, when will you get Guderian? After Rommel? And given we can access Darlan early, can we get rid of Tito? I think the best time to get Guderian is when a player is close to Modern War. That's because Rumor/Blitzkrieg is of immense help there. And if we are talking about a committed player who's is not afraid of diving into Challenge conquests immidietly, I think we can skip both Tito and Cerar. Because only after 3 days a player can potentially have 4 excellent generals Bastico, Pavlov, Konev and Darlan. Hungary (or Finland) and Romania don't require generals at all. And Japan should be manageable with Bastico, Konev and Pavlov. After that one Infantry general (Higuchi is fine, but Rundstedt is very good when commanding elite units in challenge conquest, so, I agree with jonblend Rundstedt has an endgame potential), then on day 7 Horton. Then Rommel. And then either Arnold or Dowding and Guderian. Or straight to Guderian.
