ET must’ve read my mind. After playing this game for a while I found unlike EW6:1806 that infantry is horrible at sieging, and is mostly best used to cripple cavalry and artillery (machine gunners). Guess how Petain is designed?

Nope, we originally thought dogfight was the 1914 equivalent of rumor but that was a bust.

Best infantry general in the game. Place him on a heavy machine gun and he'll kill any cavalry in his way. His perk of 2+ generals in the campaign is amazing and feels like cheating a bit. He's a pretty good budget IAP as he outshines other infantry generals by a far bit. 5/5

SolidLight is right: Petain is the best general for killing or crippling cavalry and Infantry.

Petain is not fantastic anymore. Straussenberg is actually better as he only needs one skill change (plain to jungle). His vip bonus is really good and he will need 15 textbooks to be good. I would even say borevic is better, robert e lee is his equal, and even macmahon/maria are not significantly worse. I would save the textbooks and not purchase But then again, he is only 6$ so not much is lost.

Also he is now pretty much required for History Mode, so that’s a plus.

Well, not really required. But him (And Foch) will make your life significantly easier.
