In Yamashita VS Mannerheim, The benefits of getting Yamashita instead is that in * difference, max raw dmg potential & that 1 extra skill slot, you've practically paid less for more.
Furthermore, Ace Forces benefit inf (or every unit that doesn't have its exp at max) more, since it allows inf to lvl up quickly & have better base stats, unlike Mannerheim's elastic def.
However, if you want a pure inf gen, I think Runstedt at 40% discount is more appealing than both Yamashita & Mannerheim.

Yamasita: One of the best pure inf gens, recommended to those who CAN & WANT to buy him.

I wholeheartedly agree, Rundstedt will definetely be in my general roster sometime. (Still grinding) Though Yamashita's a beast! A pain to deal with if in the opponent's side. Would consider him possibly the greatest infantry general disregarding price. Seen him in action since WC3, amazing!

What would be the most ideal skills to give Yamashita to fill out his last two slots?

What would be the most ideal skills to give Yamashita to fill out his last two slots? I'd say Infantry Leader and Guerilla. You could also pick Forest Fighting or Replacement for a conquest focus where he can survive since infantry is fast

I agree. Infantry leader for my yamashita is just devastating for the enemy as he can deal up to 120 plus damage. Guerrilla is useful too since infantry have relatively low health and he can shine in domination infantry levels. His price is the reason why I chose him over everyone else, so overpowered stats for such a reasonable price... He's one of the most affordable gold generals, and free to play non hacking players like me can get him easily even after getting a tank gen like vatutin.

As an Infantry gen , you cannot expect him to survive in the long run so you have to maximise his damage potential My recommended skills are Inf leader , Terrain and explosive . Explosive is kitted to crack undefended city with Mechanized Terrain is for sustainable damge Inf leader is good with RNG . Terrain and Explosive style could give him more role but i would prefer inf + explosive

Terrain and Explosive style could give him more role but i would prefer inf + explosive This is why I prefer him to MacArthur. Sure, MacArthur has his uses, but, at the end of the day, he's still primarily an infantry general (with minor hybrid capabilities). Infantry aren't going to survive, so power=win. Infantry leader is nice, but alone? Meh. Street fighting is nice, but I honestly don't know how good it is on an infantry general. Entrenchment? And again, this is an infantry general at heart. He isn't going to last long, regardless, so resistance against artillery isn't the most useful. Yam, however, trades one movement star for one more infantry star (more damage, and that one movement doesn't affect a whole lot). 4 potential tank stars, over 3, and same artillery stars. Aircraft skills aren't all too important, but Mac does also come with 4 potential stars in navy. I'd argue the navy bit isn't very useful, though, considering at the point you'll probably want to get him you should already have a naval general. You don't really need more, and most other generals have some ounce of navy capabilities. Yamashita also has ace forces, which isn't the best skill ever, but still not the worst. Raider is great, as are all overall unit % boosts, and Bayonet Charge makes him a constant threat, even when damaged. Therefore, Yamashita can theoretically deal more damage than MacArthur. Yamashita is at least on par with Mac, but also cheaper by a small margin. Price is important when looking at generals. This is why Patton sucks. EDIT: Ok, so Patton also sucks because of his skills. However, I'd argue that he might be far more viable if the price was lowered.

There are better generals than him in any price range. Here are a few arguably better generals: Messe (550): rumor + crowd tactics + armored assualt Bock (1100) plain + blitzkrieg + panzer leader. Decent. Sun Lr (1400) jungle fighting + plain fighting + crossfire. Greay hybrid Timoshenk (1450) plain fighting + crowd tactics + lvl 6 movement. Better hybrid than Sun Lr Vatutin (1800) lvl 3 panzer leader + plain fighting + 6 star Rommel (1700) armored assualt + crossfire + 2 slots Rokossovsky (2450) lvl 3 panzer leader + shelter + 2 slots Guderian (2800) blitzkrieg + panzer leader + armored assualt. Patton (2600) 6 stars tank He just offers very little for his huge price.

Cost denotes worth, and Yamashita is at least on par with MacArthur, yet has a slightly lower cost. Hence, why I think Yamashita is better.

If you want to use macarthur over yamashita just for the variety, you will barely notice a difference. Macarthur is better when attacking artillery or defending a city. For an infantry general only tho, I would argue that buying mannerheim and adding infantry leader lvl 3 to him, then buffing raider, jungle fighting, and infantry leader with medals would be extremely destructive. Nevertheless, Macarthur can do things yamashita can’t in certain situations

Why tho... never get patton or regret not saving up for guderian hahahaha, but yamashita on his own type is the best infantry general and one of the cheapest gold gen (excluding discounted ones) however skill wise he is indeed lacking then other generals around his skill lvl.

Would buying yamashita over mannerheim be justified if I want to shove explosives on yamashita. Or do you think Mannerheim’s jungle fighting would make a better skill?
