Okay I bought him.
What can he do?
Well everything that a great navy general can except the hp yep he runs low on health, but with red name plate it gets better and if you do not jump in the middle of action he will survive scenarios and conquests. Put him on a double cruiser and give him a destroyer and a sub as assistants he will do good.
Buy explosives skill and make him a beast in landing assistance.
After trying out Yamamoto I felt that 6 stars are needed for a navy general and especially fleet leader skill.
Why didn't you buy Nimitz then?
Well I was a greenhorn and didn't know the game is based on patience so I got him when I stuck on some pacific scenarios. Today I would rather aim for Nimitz or even Donitz, but as for second navy I think he stands a chance.
Sorry for not comparing him to Mountbatten but as I said 6 stars are a great advantage.
Anyways I love him, but be patient and aim for a gold tier instead of him. 1700+ medals were a bit much for this general but good news you can sell him for 1400 of you get bored of him.

Just give rumor. Buying him makes more sense than donitz. Nimitz full discount is WAY better. True, but in this game you will probably need more than 1 naval general. In that case, Kutznetsov and Nagumo are much better options as they are cheaper than Donitz

The more navy stars you have, the more damage you do on sea.

For the 500 medal difference over Nagumo, you can turn Kuznetsov into the loch ness monster of naval ships for those medals

At the start, i feel as though nagumo is inferior to this guy.

But Kuznetsov always has a big amount of hp as a captain and Nagumo starts as a captain, too.

hmm I feel getting donitz over nagumo is pretty worthwhile retrospectively, Donitz offers a very good skill of wolfpack which can be a huge blessing in daily medal invasions. With wolfpack, fleet leader, rumour and explosives, donitz can arguably be the best cruiser general(ace forces when you have a star unit in 1950 and 1980? meh), and definetely the most op at submarines. Nagumo only lets you have rumour, which is limiting as a lack of explosives suggests for a submarine role, but why does nagumo have sailor, an arguably bad skill that can only be made best use of by cruisers? This contradiction and paradoxes in suggested skill sets make nagumo a general with limited specialisation and capabilities, but with donitz you will get both a decent cruiser and a top-notch submarine general. Honestly if the price difference puts you off then by all means invest in nagumo, but with donitz and 1000 medals more you can possibly achieve much more(and believe me i spent a wothwhile 4 months grinding through daily invasions for donitz). Plus, major general vs captain )
