Model, as Hitler's favourite general, is surprisingly weak in wc4. Not to put him down so much, he's okay for starter players who want to save medals and use him as an infantry and tank general, but for later on in the game he cannot be relied on. Even without that he's weak as compared to other German panzer generals like bock(better skills, he's like a weak but useful cheap guderian) or the all favourite beginner general messe.

Looking back, he could be a decent alternative to Timoshenko. A pretty nice skill set. What does everyone else think? I think timo is a bit stronger however due to his speed and plain fighting.

You are basically paying 1000 medals more for 1 more inf, tank and arty *s plus 3 movement *s, if compared to Messe. However, while Messe has 1 specialised good skill (Armoured Assault), Model has Crossfire which is less specialised and only good for inf and tanks if heavy or super tanks are not involved. Mountains are more common than in before games so that skill is above average. All in all, a slightly better version of better Messe but you may as well aim for Vatutin who is ~300 medals more if you want a specialized gen, or just go for Messe and use the ~1000 medals change to save for Leeb. OR you can consider his utility in Model VS Messe or Model VS Vatutin where the main difference is stars VS skill set. _______________________________________________ Timoshenko looks like Messe but with more speed, Camouflage, Plain Fighting and HP. So your situation goes back to Model VS Messe, except that this "Messe" is Sonic the Hedgehog with more HP. |

I hate this guy. He can be a pain in the later Allies European scenarios. Tough in Operation Dragoon (Allies 9) and Operation Market Garden (Allies 10).

By his own, he is decent. Ace Forces is an excellent skill, and Crossfire is at least mediocre, quite possibly good. Since he can be an infantry general, Mountain Fighting will be useful when commanding the Mountain Commandos. The last skill depends on how you really want him. If you want him to be a tank, give him Rumor. If you want him to be Infantry, give him Raider. In both cases, give him his last movement star.
Sadly, however, he costs 1580 medals. Mannerheim is less than 100 medals more expensive and better as an infantry general, while Timoshenko is just 100 medals more expensive and Vatutin is about 120 medals more expensive as tank generals. Messe can be better than him as a tank general. Most of the generals that I mentioned as better tank generals have at least 1 of the necessary tank skills. Timoshenko has none, but he is way faster and has better other skills than Model, while Messe has Armored Assault and Vatutin has Panzer Leader.

Model should be at least a Colonel, have a purchasable 6ht tank star and have Armored Assault instead of Mountain Fighting. That would make those 1580 medals worthwhile.
