Ah naval battles, thanks for introducing this audio download website to me, I could access so many interesting books. Wanted to download Achtung Panzer as it is not available in my country (stopped supplies in 1999) but bought it this week on my overseas course |

Hey guys, I need advice about buying either Dönitz or Nimitz since I have Kuznetsov.
As far as I know, there are 3 types of navy generals in this game:
Submarine generals (Of which Dönitz is the best one)
Destroyer/Cruiser generals (Nimitz is the best at this role, I’d say Kuznetsov is the second best since there isn’t a lot of difference between them, and Kuz is better than Mountbatten, Nagumo, Fletcher and Halsey)
Carrier generals (Yamamoto is the best at this role, though this type of navy general is mostly unnecessary, since the navy stars are only used for defense. Also, due to the presence of submarines, and the fact that the defense cannons of the carriers are outranged by cruisers, super battleships, other carriers and super carriers, it’s practically useless. So pretty much any air general, even if they don’t have navy stars, is enough for a carrier role)
It seems to me that the ideal is that you have a great cruiser/destroyer general and a submarine general, since you can use the cruiser/destroyer to lay siege on a city off the coast or get rid of enemy submarines, while using the submarine general to destroy enemy cruisers and carriers which are the backbone of the enemy navy. Since I already have Kuznetsov for a destroyer/cruiser role, to me Dönitz would be the next purchase as a navy general. I know that Nimitz is really good, but if he has the same role as Kuznetsov, and Kuznetsov is the second best at this role, I don’t feel like getting him.

So, do you guys think it’s better to get Dönitz over Nimitz if I already have Kuznetsov?

Nimitz is awesome as he has lvl 3 ace forces, which results in really quick leveling up. This is important as each time a unit levels up, more hp is gained. Quite a big amount to like 300 hp. Ace forces alone more than makes up for Donitz’s wolfpack and sailor... That and nimitz is a 1000 medals cheaper. If you really want Donitz, I would trade Kuznetsov for him later on like Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby Jr did. |
