Good skills, but I would rather aim for Donitz or discounted Nimitz instead.

Mountbatten proves he is worth getting right when it matters.. vastly improved from GoG and WC3.. not the best navy, since he is silver but still, pretty good

Definitely a drastic improvement since the GoG series and WC3. He should not be taken lightly in naval combat. Sadly though, I won't be seeing him in my roster. Just not worth the price and strength compared to someone such as Nimitz. Love to see this guy prove his worth in WC4.

I have spare medals and a pretty good line up of generals so far, and was wondering if Mountbatten is worth buying. Also, what happened to Cunningham?

As you said you already have a decent line up of generals I would go for Nimitz. On discount he only costs 600 medals more, but you get an additional skillslot for that. Nimitz also has 5 airstars, making him a more diverse general. Nimitz is a general which can take you to the last campaigns, Mountbatten probably not.

If I already have Nimitz and other gold tier naval generals, is Mountbatten a good naval general to just have around? Seeing how he has 5 on navy and marching (after upgrading), he seems pretty good to just have around. (I want to do a conquest with naval generals only one day.)

Then you could definitely take him in consideration. I myself would go for Halsey though. He has 1 less movement star yet 5 air stars and is a bit cheaper as well.

For people that want a good sliver-navy general, Mountbatten is the best choice. Max out his movement stars and his skills, give him max Rumor and he will become a beast. Amazing navy general. However, if you are looking for the cheapest good navy general, buy Kuznetsov. The price difference isn’t that high, though. If you get tired of Nikolai, sell him and buy Louis instead.

Yeah, you are right. Although Nikolai is cheap, the other main reason that people buy him is due to Level 1 Rumor. Rumor is good, but some gold-tier generals are ranked better than others just because Rumor can be put on them. I bought Guderian when I did my run where I tried Yamamoto. Guderian, yes, he was good, but since all of my medals were used to get him, I could barely put Rumor on him. Thus Rumor almost never triggered, and he felt somewhat lacking because I was expecting him to be even more godly with that Rumor. See, that’s the thing that I don’t like about some of the abilities in this game. Some are amazing, but are expensive to achieve their full potential, and therefore if you stick them on an expensive general you will feel like that ability is almost nonexistent. Leeb for example, the only skill that I upgraded for him is Rumor. Most of the time I feel like he has Plain Fighting and Rumor only. Oddly, in the Scenarios, I have more difficulty fighting Manstein than Guderian because Manstein's abilities are almost all about damage dealing, and thus his output his huge. That coupled with his 160% HP boost makes him a nightmare, especially in Destination Berlin. Even my Manstein has trouble fighting the enemy Manstein. Yet Manstein never uses Rumor. (YAYYY! I'M A MARSHAL NOW!)
